Our Curriculum

Our Curriculum

At Yardley Primary School, we have strong values that guide the actions of both staff and pupils to provide an education that develops a pupil’s personality, talents and abilities to ensure they are equipped to participate and contribute as a successful member of society.

Through a culture of teamwork and collaboration, we develop life-long learners and instil in them the key skills and knowledge to enable them to thrive in the world around them, both now and in the future.

The Yardley Primary School curriculum aims to inspire every pupil to engage in all aspects of school life and take ownership of their learning and personal development. Whilst following the National Curriculum, we are ambitious and take into consideration the needs and interests of our pupils and the wider community. Our curriculum provides key learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom, empowering pupils to question and explore all of the opportunities that they are entitled to.

There are three significant values that underpin our work as a school community: Aspire, Inspire and Teamwork.  For each value, we develop and celebrate key characteristics that demonstrate these values at Yardley Primary School.  To find out more about our school values click here.

Our Guarantee of Experience

As a ‘Rights Respecting School’, we believe that education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child’s respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures and the environment (the UNCRC-Article 29).

Through a thematic approach, our curriculum has been carefully designed and sequenced to meet the needs of our pupils. It meets all of the requirements of the National Curriculum whilst also building in many opportunities for pupils to understand the world around them, particularly their local area.

We strongly believe in providing all of our pupils with the skills and experiences required to participate and contribute as a member of society.

All pupils during their seven years at Yardley will have the opportunity to:
