Outdoor Projects Update

15th July 2024  |  Posted by Yardley Primary School

We have been busy during the summer term on quite a few outdoor projects.  Here is an update on what we have been up to!

Key Stage 1 MUGA

It's ready! Our brand new Key Stage 1 MUGA is finally complete!

This project was funded by our PTFA, using all of the donations made by parents and the community through fundraising events such as our school discos and Christmas Fayre.

Thank you everyone!

Recycled Greenhouse

Remember us asking for plastic bottle donations?  Well here it is, our recycled greenhouse!

Our children have already grown tomatoes and green beans - what could be next?

Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this possible.

National Education Nature Park (NENP) Programme

Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) have been successful in applying for a grant from the Department for Education as part of the National Education Nature Park (NENP) programme.  The grant supports young people in getting outdoors and learning about the natural world, as well as enabling schools to make ‘grey to green’ biodiversity improvements.

The JLT started by mapping out areas around the school with little or no wildlife.  They then planted some shrubs and flowers to encourage wildlife into these areas.  You may have seen some of these changes in our KS1 playground.  Watch this space, there are more developments afoot!

Greater awareness of safer sleep leads to a decrease in the numbers of babies dying.
