Moving from primary school to secondary school is an exciting time. A new, much bigger school can offer greater independence and a world of opportunity!

BBC Bitesize's 'Starting Secondary School' resources will help you to think about the different aspects of starting secondary school. There is lots of advice on their website, including advice from secondary school pupils, to help make sure you are ready for the next step in your education.

The Anna Frued Centre, a mental health charity, have produced a short guide for parents and carers about how to support children who are preparing for, or going through, the transition to secondary school.
It includes guidance which explains why transition can be difficult for some children, and practical advice such as talking and connecting with the new school, as well as suggested resources that children and parents/carers may find useful.
